Coverdisk Archive
Posted on October 6th, 2016
I recently rediscovered boxes and boxes of old IBM PC floppy disks from the 90s. Mainly British PC magazine coverdisks (PC Zone, PC Format, PC Review, PC Gamer etc) that I collected religiously week in week out when I was teenager.
With a bit of influence from some of my favourite YouTubers (Lazy Game Reviews, Nostalgia Nerd and Pixelmusement) I thought it would a fun bit of nostalgia to extract the content of these floppies for use with DOSBox or any retro PC setup you have.
Actually we can use the D-Fend Reloaded (DosBox Frontend Reloaded) instead of plain DOSBox. This adds a nice front end and makes using these a whole lot easier. The D-Fend Reloaded installs DOSBox as well.
It’s mainly coverdisk game demos and utilities, but there’s also some old mail order shareware disks and no doubt a lot more besides.
There’s 100s so I’ll keep updating the page as I go, at least once a week. Any questions or suggestions feel free to Contact Me.
Checkout the DOSBox and D-Fend Reloaded Guide if you’re unsure where to start.
